The best college is TMC

I am first year - Aerospace Eng. @ TMC
My sister is third year - Bioeng/Biotech. @ TMC
We live on campus.

Dorms (first year)- 4 singles & 2 triples
Apartments (second - four year)- Upper - 1 single & 2 doubles
or Lower - 2 singles & 1 double

GE
first year you need to take DOC 1, 2, 3 for a grade, the rest could be pass/fail

Wait, there’s no doubles during freshman year at all? Only singles and triples?

Depends on number of people SIR & apply for housing

in 2010 and 2012 only triples
in 2011 there wasn’t many people (more local kids), so they change them for doubles

Anyway,
It is suite type housing.
4 singles, 2 triples/doubles, 1 living room, balcony, bathroom (2 showers/2 toilets/3 sinks)

^ There were doubles in 2010 (my year), but not all that many - out of all the dorm buildings only one building had doubles

How has your experiences with triples been? Are they too crowded or is it generally manageable?

idk
I have single room.
To study - I go to library.

I thought the triples were fairly sized and more comfortable than the ones at Warren. It also depends on your roommates - my roommates and I were busy enough to be out most of the time and we accommodated each other if one of us wanted the room alone with a friend for a while. I didn’t have the loft bed though, which my roomie said didn’t offer a lot of space.

love marshall. only thing i didnt like was ocean view terrance. ovt used to be the best dining hall but after changing it to all you can eat, the quality went down. however they just announced that they are changing it back to the way it was on april 1, 2013! so yea! marshall is the best!

Marshall is great! The Location isn’t too bad in terms of getting to classes/places you need to go. As for living situation, it’s hit or miss. This year we got bad luck because the rooms were either triples or singles. Unless you’re coming with friends…try to get a single. I’ve heard (and experienced) plenty of roommate horror stories to wish I applied for a single. I know many people who love their roommates too so it’s ultimately your decision to make!

TMC is probably known for having the best GE’s out of the six colleges after Muir! You’ll have to take the Dimensions of Culture(DOC) series which is pretty interesting, and the rest of the GE’s are pretty do-able no matter what major you are.

As for Dining…yeah it’s true. OVT kinda went to the toilet these last two quarters. They are changing it back though so hopefully the quality will go back up! Otherwise you’ll probably be eating at Cafe V(ERC’s dining hall) which is like 5 minutes away or Pines(Muir, about a 8 minute walk), both which are pretty good imo

Nope, the above who said there are no doubles this year are wrong. There are doubles this year. It’s harder to get a double your first year because there are more triple rooms, but there ARE doubles.

TMC, while one of the best colleges, isn’t the best. Muir is. They basically beat us in everything (GE’s/Location/Res Halls/Dining Hall). But, really, if you got into Marshall, you should be glad. At least you’re not in faraway Sixth or HUM Writing Revelle. :o

Just browse TMC’s website and u will know almost everything about it

So at Marshall, are you only allowed to eat at the dining halls near Marshall? Like OVT and such? Or can you eat anywhere on campus?

Also, how do people get around at UCSD? Is there a lot of biking? Or is walking the campus really not difficult?

AceAites - We beat Muir in our writing sequence! It may be longer, but it’s a cakewalk

MichelleyL - You can eat anywhere on campus, though you will likely eat often at OVT if you’re living in the dorms because it’s closest. Most people walk everywhere - the distances seem far but you get used to it. Marshall isn’t too far from everything. There are a fair amount of bikers and longboarders, and occasionally you some people with scooters or roller blades.

Dorms are kind of far. You don’t get to interact with other people in your building that much just because the arrangement of the building. Dorms are very close to the dining hall, which is nice. If you end up living in a triple room in a res.hall, goodluck with that (I think it’s the smallest triple room ever).
Marshall is kind of close to rimac gym, which I like it a lot.
Marshall also has Gooddys which has burritos and stuff.
GE’s is only 1 course more than Muir’s GE’s, so pretty lightweight I would say.

UCLA has smaller triples than we have at TMC.
