Marshall Concentrations....Is it true...

that within the next year or two, they will be eliminated from the business school? I know the classes will remain, but will there be no requirement?

what is marshall concentrations?

@amy12- to me, that sounds very unlikely- where did you hear that? I can’t find anything about it. Do you have a link?

@funnypunjabi- within the Marshall School of Business, students are required to choose a concentration or specialization like Business Communication, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Business Economics, Operations Management, or Marketing. Most concentrations require 16 units (four classes) usually taken during the student’s senior year. It is possible to choose more than one concentration.

ok oh, cool
10 char

I haven’t heard of such a thing. Do you have an article or something that talks about it?

For what it’s worth I just graduated and I heard that rumor as well.

Certainly nothing official at this point, and it’s just a rumor, but supposedly you will get a chance to basically pick and choose 4 classes from any department. I guess the goal is to add flexibility to the curriculum.

Another rumor I heard is that they are cutting Math-218.

Not sure whether these will turn out to be true, but just something I heard around campus.

Technically, there was always the flexibility to “make your own concentration”. You just needed to fill out a form and get a particular class approved (such as BUAD 499).
As long as you take 4 upper division classes outside of the core requirements, you’re good for graduation.
Maybe the supposed rumor will just make it easier since you don’t have to fill out any paperwork…
