Hey there!I'm new here and I wanna know if it's better to go to Uva or USC as a business major. Thanks a lot!

McIntire>>>USC

McIntire and USC aren't even in the same league. McIntire > USC by far.

Not to beat a dead horse, but McIntire.

It's very simple.

If you want to live/work on the east coast, go to McIntire. If you want to live/work on the west coast, go to Marshall.

Yes, its very simple. If you want to go to the better school, go to McIntire. Marshall is a second tier program, McIntire is one of the best in the country. (Refer to the McCombs vs. USC thread about how overrated USC is on these boards).

BSD, I challenge you form a coherent argument as to why McIntire is "one of the best in the country" and USC is a "second tier program". All objective data says differently, and you obviously know very about undergraduate education.

Both Marshall and McIntire have strong reputations in their respective regions. USC will provide strong connections on the west coast, while UVA will provide similar connections to the Mid-Atlantic and southeast.

the argument is in the numbers. Read. McIntire #2 Marshall #19.

I can just as easily point to USNWR, where both schools are tied for 9th place. Try again.

Both are great programs, but UVA has the upper hand just because of its awesome BB investment banking placement. That is one aspect that USC is lacking, and because most posters on CC want, or at least at one point had interest, in IB, McIntire>Marshall.

That has to do with the quality of the students not the quality of education.

Agreed that McIntire trumps Marshall in IB (and that's coming from a Marshall senior who is going into IB in San Francisco after graduation).

However, Marshall makes up for that in other disciplines... such as Real Estate Finance/Development. Honestly, far fewer Marshall students want to get into IB in comparison to east coast schools. A huge portion of Marshall students are more interested in Real Estate or the entertainment business, both of which can be just as lucrative as IB.

I think businessweek is more reliable source for business school (emphasis on business) rankings. Your school is inferior, get over it.

o thanks a lot for the helpful advice! actually i kinda hv doubts concerning the two ranking charts as well. which one is more reliable?
what abouting viewing the two univs from a holistic perspecitve (weather, atmosphere, faculty etc.)?Uva or USC?

Mcintire is a big target for BB IB, USC is definitely not.
