pebbles - thanks for the PM and the welcome. I freakin' love MIT!

streetlight - I chose MIT over PLME because Cambridge rocks and Providence just doesn't. =) I just felt more comfortable at MIT. I want to be a doctor and PLME would have definitely been the easy route for me, but I'm willing to work hard at MIT and get into med school on my own.

I can't wait to meet all of you guys on campus!

for those of you that decided to go to MIT and not Yale or Stanford - can you please say why? I'm having to make the same choice myself and I can't DECIDE!!!!!!!! AHH!!!!!! thank you so much!

I chose MIT over both Yale and Stanford because I love Cambridge/Boston. Stanford is too close to home, and I just didn't like New Haven. While Yale and Stanford both have AMAZING campuses, I chose MIT because of the research opportunities. I want to do stuff with the brain, and it just seemed to be the perfect fit. (They're building a new brain and cog building...which is gonna open August 2005!)

Now, I didn't choose MIT right off the bat. I considered a lot of things, including lifestyle, fin. aid, students, academics, ECs, etc...But, MIT is in a college town whereas Yale and MIT are not. Personally, I have many more opportunties at MIT...the MGH is right next door and so is Harvard, for the liberal artsy things. I can't really explain it (sorry!), but I ultimately chose MIT because it just felt right.

(FYI: My dad had been pushing Stanford, and mom...Yale, but that didn't influence my decision or anything.)

Location: Trinidad

Colleges you rejected for MIT: Stanford, Caltech, UMich. I got into all the universities I applied to. :) Major ego boost.
