Master degree in the US

HI there !
I'm studying at an engineering school (industrial engineering) in morocco and was hoping to go study at Georgia Tech or the university of michigan after my diploma to get a master degree.
so i was hoping you would tell me how to do it? and what tests should i take ? what scores should i get ?
and does my country have to have a convention with these schools so that i can be able to aply there ?
and could you please tell me how do we pay for tuition fees ?
thank you so much for your help and time.
any information could be helpful.

You’ll probably have to take the general GRE, but it won’t count for much.

Admissions committees will be paying attention to the rigor of your engineering coursework, your grades and your letters of recommendations. They will be looking for relevant engineering experience outside of the classroom, either through work experience or research experience.

If you are eligible for a US visa and you have a Bachelor’s degree from anywhere in the world, you are eligible to apply to Master’s programs. Are you asking whether those universities have an exchange agreement with your home university? That’s something you should ask your home university.

You should expect to pay for the Master’s degree yourself. Occasionally engineering Master’s students can secure funding *after they arrive on campus/i but that’s unlikely and nothing you could rely on.

thank you for helping me.

" if you have a Bachelor’s degree" : actually the educational system for engineering in morocco is similar to the frech one : we study 2 years in preparatory classes and then 3 years in an engineering school . so that’s like a bachelor’s degree , right?

“You’ll probably have to take the general GRE, but it won’t count for much.”
are you saying that i don’t have to take any tests like toefl or this GRE ?

Thank you

Most American universities accept foreign Bachelor’s degrees, which are 3-year degrees almost everywhere outside of the American continent. However, a few universities require a 4-year Bachelor’s degree or else a foreign Master’s degree for admission.

You’ll probably have to take both but they won’t carry much weight. Doing poorly might you rejected, but doing well is not a reason to accept you. The GRE measures high-school level verbal and math skills. The TOEFL measures basic English language proficiency. Doing poorly on either of those tests is a huge red flag, but doing well on them only means that you are as qualified for admission as an average high school student.

If your scores are acceptable, your fate depends on the rest of your application, mostly your transcript and letters of recommendation. Your letters of recommendation are important. Make sure that your letter writers know you well. If you are from a university system where professors don’t interact much with undergraduate students, it’s your responsibility to make sure that at least 1-2 professors know you well enough to write a letter about your potential and accomplishments to date. (The remaining letters can come from industry references, if that’s more advantageous for you.)

that was so interesting. thank you .
Do you think i should apply to so many colleges or stick to the universities that have good programs (industrial engineering program) ? and do you think choosing the term can effect my acceptance ? which term is best to choose?
Have a good day.

That depends on your goals. Are you set on getting a Master’s degree from the US? Or would you rather pursue your Master’s elsewhere if you can’t get into a top US program?

The fall term if the default starting date. Course sequences normally start in the fall, putting some courses off limits if you start in the spring.

YES, my goal is to have a Master’s degree in the US : the industrial engineering programs in US universities are SO interesting and incredibly diverse . I can’t wait to go there :)
