Master List of Music School Acceptances, Fall 2012

I was accepted today to the University of Texas at Austin for voice! It was my top choice, so I’m very happy. :)

Mezzo - CONGRATS!!!

S got his acceptance into the Bachelor of Music Major at Bradley University, Trumpet Performance with a Jazz emphasis. He was awarded a $12,800 combined academic and music scholarship.

Also, an update to his Elmhurst acceptance (not sure if I mentioned this yet), he was awarded a $20,000 combined academic and music scholarship.

Congrats, trumpetguysmom!

Mezzo18, congratulations. I will assume a BM in performance unless you specify otherwise.

Congratulations to trumpetguysmom and son.

Son accepted at Temple University/Boyer for BM Jazz Studies [trumpet].

Congratulations again to TrumpetDad and son.

So after one acceptance, now we wait and wait! When do most of the vp programs put out their acceptances?

Depends upon the school, CurlyMom. Most of the top conservatories (and those that are members of NASM) won’t send out acceptances until April 1st(undergrad) and need a response from the student by May 1st. All auditions have to be heard, meeting held, studios assigned, etc, it takes time. That doesn’t mean that you won’t hear earlier, if only “off the record” though!
I know it’s rough to sit and wait, but just enjoy the next three years, because then it begins all over again, for graduate school!

My son received a personal call on Valentine’s Day from Robert McDuffie that he was accepted to the McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia!

Undergrad Violin Performance major

His audition was Feb 12 so it was awesome to find out so soon!

congrats, turnhome5. The McDuffie center is a wonderful up-and-coming program, tuition free. Mr. McDuffie is a very warm, charismatic person and a terrific violinist.

Forgot to post a few weeks back when we found out that son got accepted to Indiana Jacobs for composition bachelor or music. (cello) Why did I think it was going to be easier once he got into one!Waiting to hear on 3 others where he has already auditioned and he still has 4 more auditions. 2 this weekend! This waiting is so hard!

Congratulations cellocompmom on the IU acceptance. You think the waiting is hard - wait until you get to the part about choosing which one to say yes to, and having to say no to all the others (which I’m sure there will be!)

Accepted to IU Jacobs for Recording Arts! (no performance study, but I guess you could call my primary instrument jazz guitar if you need to)

I’m thrilled. Michigan is far and away my top choice, but given their cost out of state and stinginess with financial aid, it feels great knowing I have a fantastic, inexpensive option to fall back on.

Congrats on all the accepts!!

Is it okay to post prospective high school auditions here? I know this board is College Confidential, so I’m kinda iffy.

consideringib - this thread is for music school acceptances. So if you are accepted to a pre-college program then I think posting here is fine but it might be fun to start a new
“high school audition/pre-college” thread for others that may be shy to post here or don’t think of it.

Thanks for the tip! :)

I agree with squiggles1118. High school programs fall outside the purpose of this thread, but would be most welcome on a thread of their own.

Congratulations to turnerhome5 and son. I will forego the obvious Shakespearean pun.
