Weighted GPA 4.0, test optional, class rank 81 of 567 applying for business/finance major. What are my target and safety schools to apply for undergrad?
What is your unweighted GPA and what year are you?
Unweighted GPA is 3.8. Applying this year for fall 2024 enrollment
Rigor? What type of courses have you taken, where do you live, what is your budget? What does your guidance counselor say about where kids like you have been accepted in the last few years?
And why test optional- did you not take any standardized tests?
Where did you apply in the early round?
UNC Chapel Hill
U of Florida
U of Georgia
Indiana U
U of Wisconsin
UT Austin
In addition to the other questions, what’s your budget?
- And, what area(s) of the U.S. would you like to be in (or avoid)?
- Climate preferences?
- How important is enthusiasm for intercollegiate sports or Greek life?
- Any particular interests you want to pursue in college?
- How do you feel about urban/suburan/small town/rural life?
- Size of school?
I thought Florida isn’t test optional?
-
Budget upto 50k per year
-
Climate - No preference
-
Greek life - Not very important
-
Interests - Good alumni network, internship opportunities, good clubs
-
School size - not too small
Yea, realized after starting the application process
My son was just accepted. 3.8 GPA. Finance (Honors)
Some schools you may want to consider include:
- U. of Minnesota - Twin Cities
- U. of Nebraska - Lincoln
- Penn State
- Ohio State
@rarama University of Georgia also requires SAT or ACT scores.
@rarama If you apply to Penn State, it may be best to apply to DUS (undecided) rather than to a business major (Smeal) and to check the box that you are willing to start in the summer. Admission to (pre)Smeal majors is very competitive, DUS somewhat less so. Students in DUS have the same chance as pre(Smeal) majors to meet Entrance to Major requirements and thus be admitted to Smeal.
This (internships) will come from you.
A U of Arizona Eller is solid, U of Denver is possible, Miami U of Ohio, College of Charleston, and many second tier flagships or regional schools.
Second tier privates as well - Dayton, Butler, Elon, etc.
Good luck.
