math 1 or 2?

I am not a math genius. That's the first thing.
I have just finished taking Pre-cal.

So there is the math 1 and math 2 sat 2s...
Originally I was going to take math 2, but I looked up the scores... an 800 is 88 percentile!!!!!! I would not get an 800...

So is it better to do maginally better score wise and much better percentile-wise on an easier test or take the harder one
(I would guess I would make 720-ish on math2, or 750-ish on math1?)

someone please help me out here...

Did you just complete your junior year? Most people take Pre-cal during their junior year; that is not at all unusual. The math2 test is intended for students who complete pre-cal before taking the test, the math1 test is intended for those who haven't finished pre-cal. As a result, the math1 test involves more things from geometry and algebra II, whereas the math2 test has more of an emphasis on pre-cal topics. I would suggest going to the collegeboard website and reading about them. Math1 isn't necessarily 'easier,' but covers less advanced math. As to the scores and percentiles, scores are normed weirdly for SATs and an 800 rarely, if ever, means perfect.

well, I understand that an 800 is not 'perfect' but I still wouldn't make an 800. I guess my question is, how important are the 'precentiles' for the SAT tests? Or is it that they only look at numbers?

I'm not sure. The thing with percentiles is that it's among the people who take the test, and the group of students taking the math2 test are, I think, better students than those taking the math1 test. I think that assigning 88th percentile a score of 800 on the math2 test is a result of correcting for the better students; the 88th percentile of math1 is a lower score.

Look at practice questions/tests to see what they're over. I think that if you've started to forget geometry, since you learned it a long time ago, you might find math2 to be easier.

that's a good point... I think I will take math 2, even though the score range is so front-heavy

take math 2. i di surprisingly better than i though i would. they scale it better. u can omit llike 6 and still get an 800
