I'm on the waitlist for both classes, around #30 for both classes of 400 people. What are my odds of getting into these classes? Should I already start looking for other classes?

What was your initial waitlist position for the classes? The rule of thumb is that 10% of the class max size will get in from the waitlist, but some of the clearing has already happened as people shuffle around classes or drop class B after they get in from the waitlist to class A. If your starting position in those classes was 40 or less you have decent to good chances.

You might pick one class to register into just to have a fallback, but not one that blocks off your ability to attend the 1B and 54 classes for the next couple of weeks.

rider, does the 10% rule also apply to classes with manual waitlists? I’m within the 10% for Math 1A, but it’s a manual waitlist so I’m not sure if it really matters.

I just got into my Math 1b class, but I’m still #28 on my Math 54 waitlist (moved down from #31).

I don’t get it…Math 1B is a prereq for Math 54. How would you take them in the same semester?

aceattorney - some people have AP credit that counts as satisfaction of 1B for the purposes of a prereq to Math 54, but either their major or their intended post-grad activities require or strongly prefer that they take 1B as a college course. I am assuming that is the case here, not that unusual with classes like Chem 1A, Math 1A/1B, Physics 7x/8x, etc.
