Hi, all, I have a choice in the november examinations between either a math 2c retake of a 760 or a chinese take. I already have an 800 in physics, and am applying to highly selective colleges. Is the difference between a 760 and 800 big enough to warrant a retake over a possible 800 in chinese? I have heard a lot of people say an 800 on math 2c is extremely important; could anyone please clarify?

if u are not chinese, take chinese
if you are, dont waste your money/time on either
contrary to what most people believe, 760 and 800 are similar and wont make a big impact
and it might look back if u dont get an 800 2nd time

Thanks transglobal. Do most colleges look at the best sat 2 score or the most recent? Or both?

800 on the SAT II is expected because the curve is lenient. Something like 10% of all takers get 800, and I would warrant a guess that even higher percentage of all Chinese students who take it get 800. So you are going with the typical Asian application pool, you are expected to do well on it. Of course, if you got 800 on the CR and Literature, then you have no reason to worry.

Colleges generally look at the 2 or 3 best scores. Look it up on the colleges' websites.
