If I am on the waiting list for a math 32A class, and I still remain on the waitlist by the time winter quarter starts, how good are my chances of being officially enrolled in the class during the quarter? I asked a friend about the shakiness of being on the waitlist, but he said that I should avoid the situation altogether and try to get another class. I don't know who the instructor is (the staff is teaching it). Are math classes usually lenient about the waitlist and just add the waitlisted people into the class?

this really depends. sometimes people drop early in the quarter (for reasons i don't know) but then sometimes they dont. i've seen a math professor once enroll everybody on the waitlist manually but then accepted nobody else even if someone dropped. depending on your position on the waitlist, id probably just keep my waitlist position and enroll in some other classes i'd drop if i got into math (but still wouldn't mind taking if i didn't get in).

Just sign up for She's lecture, that's what I ended up doing..
