<p>You are going to find duds teaching math/science/engineering wherever you go, whether it is Rice, Yale, Duke, etc. The fact of the matter is that these disciplines are more research-focused than the humanities, so more of the science/engineering professors are there for research, not teaching. The only place where this may not be a problem is a LAC (i.e. Amherst, Williams, Pomona, etc.).</p>

<p>This is true. Some are also just bad at teaching, even though they care. This problem seems to be more prevalent in the lower level classes.</p>
