anyone here in math club, and if so what do you do, ie activities, competitions, etc

We go to math meets all over the state, do stuff on Pi Day if it falls on a school day, and have breakfast together the morning before the AP Calc exam. I think that's about the extent of it... Oh yeah and we tutor people in math for an hour each month.

Hey you guys may use Rusen Meylan's 15 2C test questions in your competitions There are a lot interesting questions there. And he will help you if you inform him that you need contest problems (we have done it); contact him through rushco@superonline.com

tutoring students in grade 9 and 10
we have like 1 meeting a semester - just to organise our little maths buddies and such.
(my little grade 9 math boy is soo cute!! He doesnt even know his 8 times tables off by heart lol!! hmm actually that's not very funny but he looks so cute when we squints his eyes and looks up to the sky looking for an answer to 8x3!!)

I tutor him once a week and at exam times, twice a week. (1.5 hours) free.....of......charge..........lol
It's practically like "big brother" except i'm a girl.. so i guess "big sister" because I just take him out to places (not school) and help him wit maths.

my club combines math and science so there's always some math or sci competition to prep for or do administrivia during meetings. aside from that, i usually give lectures in math.

I talked about calculus of finite differences this week. my friend gave a talk about topology. a few weeks ago we had a speaker do a lecture on set theory. it's harder to do lectures in science since everyone at our school has a specialized interest. i.e. some know physics, others chemistry, others biology. So, it's harder to appeal to everyone.

To raise money we sell popcorn at our football games. it's a great way to bond and tell corny math jokes. we have a lot of fun.

we always have a fun end of the year banquet to say goodbye to the seniors. this is usually followed by a movie hopping session or a game of mafia that lasts till the wee hours of the morning :P

bottom line, to have a successful math club...integrate fun with math! haha
