I'm having a hard time deciding whether to take Math 16A or Math 1A. I'm currently under MCB right now but still not sure yet of which major I will definitely pursue. I'm really scared to take Math 1A, based on everything i've heard about it (esp. when you continue on to math 1B!) I haven't taken calculus yet, so I'm thinking math 16A might be a better bet...but would the more difficult class (math 1A) look better to med schools? Or would an A in math 16A be better than getting a B or lower in math 1A despite the difference in difficulty?

If you are in MCB, you have to take Math 1A and 1B series to declare the major. In your case, if you want to pursue MCB, you must take Math 1A and 1B.
If you just want to apply to med school, you only need one year of calculus. From what I've heard at Calso, med schools do not understand the difference of the math series. They only check to see that you have completed a year of calculus.

thank you for the reply!
