Math IIC

Which book(s) would you recommend for Math IIC? I'm currently a junior who's taking Pre-Calculus Honors, and I'm not sure I'll be ready for Math IIC. Any suggestions or comments are welcome; thanks in advance.

Learn **everything/b in the Barron's book and you'll get an 800 (provided that you were already good at math).

Thanks, the only book I've heard from seniors who've taken the Math IIC was Barron's book. Are there any other books you would recommend or does Barron's suffice?

When are you taking the test?

I'm planning to take the test in June 2005, and it'll be the only SAT II I'll be taking for that sitting.

plenty of time, then. i took like 15 practice tests from just about every prep book and got an 800.

Yes, I used "just about every prep book", like another_asianboy - although, if I had to choose one, I'd definitely go with PR SAT II Math

yeah you should take math IIC
and u will have no problem unless u have bauman for a teacher

Yeah, but I have Bauman as a teacher...

I took Math IIC as a joke last year on the same test date I took my bio sat 2's. I didn't think the math was going to be hard so i didnt take it seriously at all...turns out...it didnt matter. the math isnt very hard (yeah there are a few questions youre going to miss if you didnt look closely the topics that 2c covers) but its manageable. i got a 700 with prep non existent except for math background.

If you're not going for an 800 and have limited time, Kaplan works well.

What worked for me is getting the Princeton Review Cracking the SAT II Math" for review of concepts and the REA book for practice tests. However, if you feel comfortable in what you're learning in class and your school has a decent math program just taking practice tests should be more than enough. The REA ones pretty much reflect the difficulty and the subject matter on the real thing. Overall though, if you have an A or B in Precalc the test is really not that difficult and you shouldn't stress out too much over it.

come on, u guys stress too much on the prep, just don't do it, relax and take it, it's what i did and i got an 800

have you guys heard of TI 83 Rusen Meylani? Is that good? Im taking the test in June, so I was just wondering if I should purchase it.

use rusen meylani's sat 2 math with ti and 15 realistic tests; for the review use PR, don't use Barron's

My teacher says kids usually get on the real thing what they get on the ARCO practice tests: the ARCO is harder, just slightly, but on the real thing, kids either get nervous or let their guard down slightly because it's easier than the practice tests, and make careless mistakes, so it ends up being about the same grade.

no prep classes. PR book. quizzed myself occasionally with new vocab for a month. took a few practice tests on the final week. obviously, didn't work well.
so practice.

i'm takin the new SAT on june4. preparing with kaplan n PR books along with one by Gary Gruber(?). a fren gave me the Gruber book. no prac tests yet. i know, i need to be working harder.

sorry :p i was trying to post this in the SAT score thread...
