Posted in College Admissions because it's a question about colleges' stance on the test, not the test itself.

How important is to have taken a Math SAT II? I haven't taken Math IIC. I took IC, but I didn't do as well on it as I'd have liked, and I've heard that colleges don't consider it very important. I'll be applying to Harvard and Yale, both of which don't require one to have taken a Math SAT II. Considering that I've already taken three SAT IIs I'm confident in (770 Latin, 780 World History, 730 Biology), is it really so necessary to take Math IIC? Should I do so anyway to replace biology?

Also, I'm taking 12 Honors Pre-Calculus as a junior (I know, I know, everyone here took calculus in middle school...), and I'm not sure whether to take AP Calc AB or BC next year. Will taking BC give me an edge? Math isn't my strong point, and I'll probably do better in AB. For early action at a non-math-oriented school like Yale, should I take the easier course for a slightly better GPA or the more difficult one (especially as everyone here doesn't seem to take AB seriously)?

Which Calculus course you should take depends on how your pre-cal course is structured. My school had two levels, one which fed into Calc BC and one which fed into Calc AB. In the BC-track class we actually covered "A" Calculus during the last third or so of the year. We went over the material again this year, but at a much faster pace. If we hadn't already had the material, it would have been very difficult. If your pre-cal class isn't structured to cover "A" Calculus, you would have to self-study it. That might not go very well if math isn't your strong point.
