My son is intending on applied math or finance major. How would Babson be for him? He loved Bentley on our tour but before we see Babson, can anyone tell me how he’d fit at Babson. I’m concerned about the “entrepreneurial” aspect as he has no intention of starting own company in near future.
Thoughts?
Finance and accounting are among the most popular concentrations while at Babson. Far more students end up going into financial fields coming out of Babson vs starting their own business. Babson has a class for seniors where they actively invest a portion of the school’s endowment. It’s a solid school for finance. I wouldn’t worry too much about the entrepreneurial aspect - Babson’s whole mantra is to get students to THINK like entrepreneurs even if most don’t intend to start their own business.
Most Babson students concentrate in Finance rather than entrepreneurship. I dont think the “entrepreneurial” aspect of Babson is as big as everyone thinks.
Alumni here: About 8 years ago we had a president, who realized that no business school was being “known” for entrepreneurship. It was a ploy for marketing. We obviously can’t beat Wharton/Stern for Finance, so why not market ourselves in this specialty. Check out the Culture center, and our finance programs. We don’t have the alumni connections Wharton has for IB, however, I would say our students do just as well in our internships and interviews as those students. So really for a Babson student, if you can get to the interview, you’ll get the spot.
Not an issue he’s interested in math, but he has to want to do finance.
