Math placement exam

Just found this very helpful link!
http://atlas.usafa.af.mil/dfms/Academics/Placement/exam_prep.htm
This site points out that some incoming cadets pass the calc exam but fail the algebra/trig exam. That places them in pre-calc their first semester no matter how well they did on the calc placement test. The exam is downloadable as a Word document or a pdf file. Hope this helps.

Interesting......
Reminds me of the calculus test we got back today when the teacher said surprisingly a handful of people got a problem wrong because they forgot simple algebra 1 stuff (the graph of y=x+1) :P

I must admit my integrals are a bit sharper than my trig identities :)

Thanks for the link.

Further note:
The above link is different from the one given in the appointment packet. The appointment packet link doesn't seem to be working right now.
Further warning:
My son made a 780 on his SAT Math test (junior year) but missed 19 out of 40 on this sample algebra/trig test. You can bet that he will be reviewing the material that he learned in 10th grade. Word to the wise...

RTBdad, Thanks for the link. I appreciate your help!

Definetly need to brush up on the trig.

I fail....

Math. I scored a 5 on the AP calc BC and made an A in Calc 3 and am making an A in calc 4 at OU. How do I stack up with the other members of the class of 2010?

Is anyone else having trobule accessing the Math Placement prep? I've used the posted link, and also tried going through the USAFA math division webpage on different computers, and I still get a "Page can not be displayed" or "You are not authorized to view this page" error.

you need an af.mil address.

I think the site is just down temporarily. It's meant to have public access, but those of you who regularly click on Academy links know there are frequent problems. The candidate website is a good example. Keep trying and it'll probably work soon.
