Math Placement Exam?

I’m nervous about the placement exam, as I’ve been told scoring low makes it extremely difficult later on. I earned a B+ in my AP Calc AB class (top 15 ranking high school nationally) and passed the AP exam. As this (seems) to be a Precalc based exam, I should be set… I’m still worried. Has anyone taken it yet? I’m in the college of letters and science. I’m not a “math person” and don’t need to excel at this, but I want to do well. Aiming for at least a score of 30 - is that something to aim for, I’m not sure how it’s scored - hopefully 35.

They have a few prep exercises online - does anyone know if they’re worth doing? Seem super straightforward to me. Any tips? Thank you in advance!

No need to study at all. Just relax and take the exam. It’s tests you on basic algebra and pre calc. If you did well on the SAT, you’d probably do well on this.

I took it after a full year of no math, due to completing calculus my junior year and my school not offering anything higher than that. I easily scored well above the minimum for MAT 21A just by glancing over some precal notes briefly before I took the test. True, this was four years ago…but I can’t imagine it’s changed drastically in that time.

Put another way, you’ll be fine.
