This is a dumb question...anyway, just bare with me. I was under the impression for a while that EVERY admitted freshman had to take the math placement exam. Then I learned that if you had at least a 29 on the math section (or was it ACT composite?) that you didn't have to take it. I got a composite score of 31 and 29 on the math section, so I was relieved that I didn't have to. But I applied to college of engineering, so now I'm worried that I should have taken it. I took AP Calculus BC last year and took the AB test, so if I got a 3 I could potentially get some credit and skip ahead a semester. I think even if I got a 3 on the AP test I would just retake calc 1 anyway...but now I'm worried that not having taken the math placement test will count against me. Given I've already take AP Calculus BC (which I think is the equivalent of two semesters of college calc) I think I should go right into calculus. Is that what most engineering students do? Should I take the math placement test even though my AOP is less than a month away (July 1st)?

If you score a 28 on the math section of the ACT, you do not have to take the math placement exam, and you will be placed in calc I, unless you receive credit for it.

Thanks. Thats what I thought, but a woman I talked to on the phone confused me.
