For any incoming freshmen, did anyone recieve information about taking the math placement test? In the informational packet they gave us about orientation they mentioned sending more on the math test but I haven’t received anything yet. Has anyone else? :)

I believe you take it online… i think i remember seeing somewhere when I was on one of the websites that i could take it. Not 100% sure, but i think xD

Oh I know you have to actually take the test online, but they said they were going to send us information about it. And I was going to wait to take the test after I received the information but if I just heard it wrong, then never mind! Hahhha

One word of warning about the Math Placement Test-jusst because you may have scored at a certain level of math doesn’t mean you have to take that level course. My DS who did not take calculus in H.S. did very well on the Math Placement Test so his OSU counselor placed him in Math 151 (a tough calculus class). My DS said everyone in the class had had h.s. calculus and ap calculus so you can imagine it was a real struggle for my DS. After the change deadline had passed my DS learned that there were 7 other math options he could have taken which would have been more within his math abilities. He didn’t have to take Math 151 since it wasn’t required for his major. Struggling through this calculus course first quarter of freshman year was really tough especially since he found he could have taken other math courses and been better off. His advisor never told him he didn’t have to be in Math 151 until it was too late. So moral of the story is if you test high but don’t feel comfortable in the Math class you are placed in based on placement test results; be sure to check if there are other better options for you.

Also be sure to take math placement at least two days before your orientation. Here is the link for the math placement info:

Good luck. I hope you all enjoy Ohio State as much as my DS. He doesn’t want to come home this summer and we live on the beach!!
