Math Placement Test

I am majoring in business and am about to take the math placement test on the pre-registration website. I am looking to pass out of Math 118, and just took the AP Calc AB test. If I get a 4/5 on the AP test I will test out of Math 118, but I am going to orientation on June 20, so I won’t know my AP score by then. Does anyone know what score you have to get to pass out of 118? If I don’t pass out, can I re-take the test at Orientation or during welcome week? What is on the test and how hard is it to pass out of 118? Thanks!

The placement test is only to determine if you need remedial courses. Your AP Calc exam scores are what allow you to place in higher math classes. From what I recall, you need a 4 or a 5 on that exam to place into a higher math class (which I assume includes skipping Math 118). The placement test won’t let you skip Math 118 no matter what you do. Also, you can’t retake the placement test, but you can claim computer failure (at least that’s what people have told me) and they will assume you would have passed the exam. However, the placement test is pretty easy, so if you do fail it, I’d suggest you brush up on your math skills.
