Math Placement

Hi, I have a question about the math placement. I read somewhere that the math placement test is given in order of difficulty and you have to pass one part to move onto the next. My problem is that even though I took pre-calc and calc, I had a really bad pre-calc teacher who didn’t really teach at all so I don’t really know pre-calc, but I’m really good at calc. In my case, would I fail the pre-calc session and get placed into an easier calc class at SBU regardless of how good I am at calc?

Regardless of your math placement score, at the beginning of the semester if you place into precalc you can ask a Calc A or Calc 1 professor for permission to move up and enroll in their course if you explain your situation. If the class isn’t full they will have no problem with it. You can also retake the Math placement exam too so theres that.

How many questions is in each section? The same amount as the practice problems?
