Math question i don't understand?!

in the xy plane , which of the following is
NOT a point on the graph of the line
y= -1/4x+5?

A)(8,3)
B)(4,4)
C)(0,5)
D)(8,7)
E)(-16,1)

The answer is E . But what i approched is that both D and E can work i need to know why E is the correct answer?

First of all, is that (-1/4)x as in “x is in the numerator” or -1/(4x) as in “x is in the denominator”?

I think it’s y = (-1/4)x + 5, as A, B, and C lie on that line.

However D and E do not lie on that line, which means either you or the question made a mistake (likely a typo).

Bodangles (-1/4)x as in “x is in the numerator”

Miter94 yes you are right i checked the question with a friend i found that my book has a mistake in typing
Thank you!
