Hi everyone,

I just have a general question about the math requirement needed for UCLA and UCB. For UCLA it states that I only need one transferable math course that is higher than intermediate algebra. I'm taking precalculus right now so I think that satisfies the math requirement for UCLA, but what is the math requirement for UCB? I'm just curious and wondering if intermediate algebra is the standard for all UC transfers. I am applying as an anthropology major and solely took precalc for the purpose of the math requirement if that helps.

Thank you everyone for the help and support!

BTW - Just found out today I passed the final :) So I just need to finish up my GE's next quarter and I'll be all done!! Can't wait for admissions!

Intermediate algebra is not transferrable. I think you meant College Algebra. Anyways, as far as I know college algebra (or higher) or introductory stats fulfill the general UC math requirement.

Someone please correct me if this is wrong!

Congrats on your final btw!! :)

Which Anthropology major are you going for? BA or BS? UCLA has 2.

UC-Berkeley only requires 1 math class for IGETC and your pre-calc will satisfy the math requirement.

I am going for a BA, and hoping to double major in public health or psychology once transfer. So Pre-calc satisfies the math requirement for UCLA as well?

@Laladyy - Thank you!! :)

Pre-calc satisfies IGETC

Just check your school’s IGETC sheet. I satisfied the math section with some bogus class called “Nature of Mathematics.” Okay, it wasn’t bogus. But it wasn’t anything focused like preCalc or Calc.

Haha, well I don’t have IGETC because I’m at UCR right now. But I think pre-calc does will satisfy the math requirement, just checking. Thanks!

just make sure it satisfies your major check with assist.org

i think stats would be better, with public health as a major anyways. leading to biostats and what not. imo.

I know stats is important, I might take it but it’s full right now. I might take it next year if I get in
