Math/Science Summer Program (COSMOS) at UC Davis

Since I used this website a lot for information about summer programs, ACT help, and other such things, I thought I'd give my own two cents about UC Davis. When I applied, I tried to look around for more people applying this year to UC Davis's COSMOS program (for those who don't know, it's a summer program for math and science).

I was accepted to attend COSMOS at UC Davis this summer for their 1 month program. It costs $2,950 but for one month + dorm + food and everything, it's really, really cheap compared to other programs.

For the application process...
I had a 4.8 weighted GPA this past semester (1 B in AP Language) and 4.5 weighted for grades 10-12.
I had some extracurricular activities (I'm in our school's science Olympiad team, I volunteered MANY hours both in mission trips and at a food bank/shelter, ~500 hours)
I never won any awards or anything though, but I guess that doesn't really matter because it didn't affect me...
I probably had 2 good teacher recommendations because I really show interest in the subject even outside of class (I'm that kid that stays after class and is the first to come in before school; that's just who I am! I don't try to be that kid but I really enjoy school and learning... weird, right?...)
In my short response questions that asked why I wanted to be in the program, I was really truthful; I said that I really have an interest in the biomedical sciences and I just talked about how I wanted to make sure that I want to study the biomedical sciences now instead of figuring all that out AFTER I get into college.

I think the most important thing is to show a genuine interest in sciences/math. I applied 1st choice as Biomedical Sciences and 2nd choice Chemistry of Life. I was accepted into my first choice (Biomed) and I'm really, really excited for this summer!!

If there's anyone who is also going to the COSMOS program this year, let me know! Maybe we can give each other feedback and also help others who want to apply next year!
