So I've been seeing some SAT questions and I'm not really used to percentages but there was that question 33 1/3% less than 9 so what they did was multiplying 9 by 1/3 and then subtracting it from 9 so the answer was 6 . But I wanted to know why did they neglect the 33 and just used the 1/3 ??? Please help me..

33 1/3% is equal to 1/3…
Cuz % is out of 100 and (33 1/3) / 100 is equal to 1/3

If they were to neglect the 33, it would be 1/3%.

As icecreampie said, 33 1/3% = 1/3.
