Math team and Mu Alpha Theta- which one is better?-HELP

Hi I am high school senior.
Last year I found and led AMC12 team in our school.
I am going to make AMC team as well, but I found honor society called Mu Alpha Theta.
By researching, I found out it is math competition club as well and it is a national club.
I am now wanting to make Mu Alpha Theta club at our school as well.
Here are some questions.

  1. Is Mu Alpha Theta club worth to make? and would it help on my college application?-- It is not the only reason that I am wanting to make it. I am just curious whether it will help me on the college application.
  2. Some people say that I need at least one sponsor. Is that true? What is the requirement for the sponsor?
  3. Should I just follow the steps that the website shows?
  4. Is it unnecessary to make since our school already have AMC team?
  5. Is it too much to make new club, prepare for SAT, and do college application including college essay all at the same time?

At my school at least, our chapter of Mu Alpha Theta is centered around preparation for the AMC 10/12. However, they do other minor competitions throughout the year as well. I’m not sure how the sponsor works, but I’m assuming you need a teacher (probably, math) to host the club. Yes, I would follow the instructions on their website, if it’s something you want to start. I wouldn’t say it’s necessary, but if you want to do it and are willing to make time for it, why not?

As for your fifth question, the fact you still need to prepare for the SAT as a senior should be number one priority. Make sure that comes first. And college applications. But, I’m sure you could handle it all with proper time management. It’s always a plus to be a founder of a club for college admissions. Good luck to you!

Thanks!!
