Hello all, I am a first gen college student so if my questions sound basic and silly please stick with me a bit. Looking at the four year plan you can do online and at explore for Marshall students, it says I must take math 118 first semester. However, I am terrible at calculus and only ever got to a B- in 10th grade precalculus (I took ap stat 11th and none in 12th). I noticed math 117 is a precalculus alternative and then you can do 118 after, but would this mean I cant graduate in four years. Can i do 117 in the fall to ease into 118 by using 118 in the spaces occupied by an elective on my 4 year plan or do i need all those elective units to graduate?

Oh and is Hoffman and G.L. Bradley, Calculus for Business, Economics, and the Social and Life Sciences, Brief 11th ed., McGraw-Hill, New York, 2013. The textbook that is still used for 118? Many thanks
