I am currently a SBU freshman and I wanted to try to transfer for junior year to any of the ivys however I'm concerned that since I've earned so many credits by next year I could be considered a junior and I won't be able to apply. So, is there a limit on the number of credits I can have to apply as a transfer? I know there's a limit but is there a max? I have 40 credits as of now and by the end of the spring semester will have about 60+. Should I instead apply for sophmore year??

I dont think there is a maximum number that you not exceed, but rather that they will require that you take at least 60-65 credits at the new school (depends on school).

My advice is that if your SATs/HS GPA are very very strong, consider soph year, but if you are counting on college GPA to get you in, go for Junior year.
