Maximum units to transfer to College of Natural Sciences UCR or UCSD?

Hi guys.

Im currently taking classes at a California CC to finish the major prerequisites for my BS in Biochemistry major to be able to transfer to UC Riverside. So far I have earned 34 units out of which 22 are UC transferable. However, by the time i am able to fulfill all the transfer requirements, my total UC transferable unit count alone would be around 86-89 without counting the non UC transferable units Ive taken to pass prerequisite courses for certain major requirement classes.

I have never attended a 4 year university before and intend to take all these lower division classes and their prerequisites at this CC before transferring. According to this document,( http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/uc-transfer-maximum-limitation-policy-chart.pdf ) students with 90 semester/135 quarter units or more are regarded as high unit juniors. My question to you is this. Are the non UC transferable classes Ive taken included in those maximum 90 semester/135 quarter units or do they only count UC transferable units for this purpose?

Your help is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

if the only colleges you have attended have been community colleges then you can never hit the unit limits. You could have 500 units at a CC and still be eligible for all UCs. They have a cap on how many units from your CC will be applied towards the units you need for UC graduation, although classes you take in excess of the limit can still be used to satisfy requirements for your major even if they don’t give you units towards UC graduation.

They rewrote the policy a few years ago so that if all of your lower division units come from any college, not just a community college, and you had nothing other than that, it wouldn’t put you over the limit. Unfortunately they didn’t word it very well. But if you read that document you linked to carefully you can see that they are capping the number of units you can xfer at 70 if all your classes have been at a community college, so you can’t reach any of the high unit limits.

Your college has a transfer center with counselors that are there to help you. It would be a good idea to start working with them because they can help you answer questions like this

Thanks for clearing that up. English isnt my first language so i probably misunderstood the document. I appreciate your answer.
