Dad II,
It is my understanding that the housing choices are offered in the order in which they receive your $100 acceptance fee (as are the football tickets.) Then, as soon as your get the information for housing, you send your choice in ASAP. (As with the tickets!) We sent our acceptance fee 2 days after we received the information. My DS was disappointed that I didn't send it the same day! (He also like the looks of Lincoln. He had previously toured Taylor, and thought he liked that-- being so close to the Engineering area-- but when he heard that the university staff cleaned the bathroom and common area twice a week for Lincoln, he was sold!)

Dad II,

There is a price difference between Lincoln and Taylor, maybe a couple hundred per quarter? I don't know the exact amount, but it's not anything extremely substantial and really shouldn't play too huge of a role in your decision.

Most people who sign up for Lincoln get into it, but I sent in my deposit ASAP, even though I'm not sure I want to go OSU yet. Last year, my ex-boyfriend sent in his acceptance fee around March or April and he got into Lincoln.

And if your DD wants to see some pictures of the inside of Lincoln, I have a lot. =)

when do results come out? anyone knwo?

They told us that there were 960 students who competed at OSU plus other 80 international and at far west of US. They will notify 30 of those in the week of Feb 22. best of luck to all.

30? where did that number come from? it's 70 full tuit and 10 full ride, so where do you get 30?

JohnC613-
30 are chosen to interview for the 10 Presidential Scholarships (full rides).

We were told that everyone would be notified the week of March 10-- either way. The Presidentials that have been interviewed will already know by then that and the remaining 50 Medalists will find out that week.

ok I get it now. thanks. good luck to all
ohiomamma, i don't really like the way they use equations and formulas and such to rank applicants. what do you thnk?

Well, I think that it would be REALLY difficult to pick the top 80 out of 1000 students based just on essays alone. Especially since these essays are coming from students with ACT scores 32? or above and class ranks in the top 3%. Also, the essays are graded by different graders -- any teaching staff at the university that volunteers can grade as many as they want. (I am very curious as to how they grade the essays, also. They would probably have to be pretty "nit-picky" to separate them.)

So, factoring in the test scores helps them get more separation, I guess. And, factoring in the "diversity" would allow them to structure the student body the way they want.

My son did his best, and now we pray and wait!

Do you happen to know how they are sending the notification? Is it via email or snail mail?

^^ My understanding is that they will call 30 students on Feb 22nd.

two more days!!!

Haha, Dad II, you are making me NERVOUS!

I'm 99.999% sure I won't get a call though.

I got a call this afternoon inviting me to the March interview weekend. But it's for the Joyce and Battelle scholarships. This probably means I'm out of the running for the Presidential, right?

Joyce & Battelle? hmm i don't know anything about those. how much are they worth? I assume they're smallr scholarships?
But I'm pretty sure Presidential can't be combined with anything else. Good luck for the Joyce and Battelle then!

just got the phone call for presidentials guys
check in March 2 at 4:30
should be done by March 3 at 5:30
stay overnight with current honors student with same major as the one you selected.

Battelle is like Medalist (full tuition+fees), Joyce is like Presidential (full tuition, room & board, books, misc. expenses, extra money, etc.)

oh, well that's great! why would you even care about presidentials then? again, good luck tennisgirl

if you get a call to interview for the presidential scholarship, does that mean you will definitely get medalist even if you don't end up with the presidential?

well i had been wondering because they don't offer as many as the 10 they offer for Presidential. but thanks JohnC! good luck to you too!
