Hello. I am interested in majoring in either poly sci or public affairs, both of which are housed in Maxwell. I understand Maxwell has an excellent program for grad students and I want to know if Maxwell provides a comparable quality of education to their undergrads. Do SU students get good internships in the Syarcuse area? How is the SU in DC program? Is it for just one semester or can I study there for a full year? Lastly, would going to SU benifit me if I decide to apply to the Syracuse MPA grad program? Thanks.

Hi kool321,

Maxwell is indeed an awesome grad school! And thanks to its high regarded reputation, most people (employers) assume that the undergrad program would be highly ranked too. But honestly, it’s just an ‘ok’ school for undergrads compared to grad but the students do get the advantage of having the same professors as the grad students which can bring you access to networking and other privileges. Hillary Clinton for example visited Cuse to speak in one of the Maxwell professor’s undergrad class.

As for internships in the SU area…alot of my ps friends wait until summer to find an internship because it’s hard enough to find an internship during the summer but if you don’t have a car…no luck

Not too familiar with the DC program.
