Does anyone remember what the love poem was?

um no wonder i couldn’t understand the prose

the tan callous experience passage

henry david thoreau- walking

[Walking by Henry David Thoreau](http://www.ecotopia.org/ehof/thoreau/walking.html)

For the twas but a dream question I said that it was a joy that could never be fully expressed, because the joy of coming to this spot with her love never happened since he died at sea. Not sure though.

sir john suckling- to lady e.c. at her going out of england

that’s the love poem where he can’t express

i think there were some question that asked the meaning of lines 11-15, 16-18 or something like that

anyone remember those answers?

I said feigned=pretended, and don’t remember what I said for the joy could ne ver fully be expressed question… but I feel like my answer had “desire” in it. I think that was the most difficult passage for me.

and i think one of the last missing passages

joy kogawa- obasan

the one about spiders/attic/prairie dust storms

Oh, that was hard too… I think for the things hanging from the ceiling I said “indistinguishable objects that had disintegrated” although I was very tempted by “bats”… I didn’t want to say that it was mangled spiderwebs with dead bugs in them because I couldn’t visualize that… that question came down to intuition for me.

How many did you guys omit? I couldn’t bring myself to omit any… I’m allergic or something.

We need to make a compilation.

Critical Self-Examination

Light invited worldy woes

Poppy was a narcotic

A lot of these are questionable.

Can you please tell me what the critical self-examination question was? I don’t remember it at all…

I ommited 3, I think I already know I got like 5 wrong so whoo hoo I have to take it again :(

The critical self-examination question was something like: The narrator wants to be unconscious to escape from what? Another answer choice was guilt, and another was superficial curiosity. I wasn’t really sure, but said critical self-examination because he created an image of his mind violently burrowing into his body or something.

I omitted 2, and I know of like 2 or 3 I probably got wrong, but I guessed randomly on a few of the Obasan ones, so I probably got a bunch of those wrong. I’d take anything over 700, which you can get with up to like 10 wrong, so I am optimistic :)

If somebody wants to get a compilation going from the other four passages that would be awesome, I know some answers but am pretty spent.

Ooh hm I think I also put critical self-examination then, it sounds familiar, unless there was an answer that had to do with escaping from reality…

Thanks icecreamer,

Another one for the genuine vs. fake lament, the question is something like when the narrator says “And so pray think; or if you 'd entertain”, what is he saying? And I answered that he was asking his love to try to accept that his love for her is too deep to be expressed through tears.

Again for that poem, there was a question that was like “what does the narrator think he is most like?” And I was pretty sure the answer was good wine, because in the poem he said that good wine didn’t need to bring attention to itself or something.

Also there was a question regarding the image of the burning wood, don’t remember exactly though.

Also, for the Maine grass passage, unique pessimism was an answer choice that went with elemental human experience and typical New England woman. We aren’t sure of the answer, I said unique pessimism.

But, I am fairly certain that the answer to a different question in that passage was “it showed the true depth of her suffering”.

Another question in that passage was the one about how the woman is compared to some ancient woman or legend or something, and the question asks about this comparisons significance. I answered that it showed that her suffering is one that has always existed in humanity and that transcends time or something.

i thought the spiders are indelicate was
I understatement of her feelings

and III in contrast to what the children say: “spiders are creepy” or something like that

i don’t remember what II was but i didn’t mark that

Hate to repeat myself, but no one really answered my question when I last posted it.

Is this exam at all similar to AP Lang passages and exams? What would the primary differences be?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.
