@Harvardbound2017 when it said the “dear man” or something it was obviously about the speaker, but i know that wasnt her really “addressing” him. but i was stuck between that and another choice and i just had a couple minutes left (i had skipped it and come back to it) so i chose it, it could definitely be wrong though
for the quaint, i put something like shows the passage of time, i think that was an answer choice
i got conviction about vitality of books too
@curlypie99 okay thanks! what did you put for that qn in the first passage about the mirror preferring another face to his
@curlypie99 Skipping 5 and getting 2 or 3 wrong would give you a score of roughly 760-780.
The answer I put for the “mirror preferred another face” one was the one that said she disliked herself and her art (it was worded differently, but I can’t remember). I believe I answered 1 and 3 for the spider question and the passage of time for the quaint question, as well.
@jane3yre on a couple practice tests i missed 7 without skipping any and still got a 780, so im not sure if the curve is really that lenient or if thats just for the books i used (Kaplan and PR).
@Harvardbound2017 i got the same for the mirror preferred another face question as jane3yre
Aye thanks guys! What about the one for charles on fire where they asked about what “he was flesh again” mean? Also another question on the shocked and unconscious glance
@Harvardbound2017 i cant remember the answer choices for either of those, what did you put?
I think one of the choices was that he was ethereal for a moment (for the “he was flesh again” question), and another was he was burned (or something to that extent).
@theenglishrosees i think that was a different question, but i put that the alcohol burned him or something for whichever question that was
@curlypie99 for the he was flesh again, my answer was “he was pale as to appear ghostlike”, and for shocked and unconscious glance, I put he has not come to terms with his experience yet
What’s the bell curve for lit like? What’s the lowest raw score you can get to get an 800 scaled score approximately?
@Harvardbound2017 for the unconscious glance, i put the same answer as you. for the he was flesh again, i think i put something that had to do with him getting burned, like he recovered or something? i cant remember the exact answer
i think you can miss 4 and get an 800, at least thats what my PR and Kaplan books had for their curves
@curlypie99 most people seemed to have put the ethereal option as their answer for the he was flesh again. ah well any other questions you found tough?
“Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing”(this is tge a thing of beauty lasts for ever poem)… Was the right option soothing or making you more healthy??
@Harvardbound2017 really? i thought the ethereal one would be too much of an assumption because the poem was pretty grounded in reality
what about the one for the poem about things of beauty, when it asked “which of the following was not shown in the poem’s imagery?” some of the options were like shade, nutrition, gentle breath, etc. i put the one about food/nutrition
@curlypie99 yep I put the nourishing food one. For the ethereal one, I didn’t choose that as my answer, but in hindsight I could see why it might be so… tbh none of the options look quite right to me so who knows
@senjiruven hey so how did the girl regard the speaker affectionately haha? just wondering cos that’s been bugging me for a while
Wasn’t the whole poem a show of affection. The dude even says in the end that my life is idle without you…
As for the burning hand question, I am pretty sure it is not ethereal… The poem never goes into the supernatural. It just talks about looks. So ethereal is not right in my opinion.
@senjiruven I know the speaker shows affection to the girl…but I didn’t spot an instance where the girl showed affection to the speaker?
Also, what did you put for the he was flesh again qn?
@senjiruven i agree, i dont think it was ethereal. that means so perfect that it seems too beautiful for the world, and the poem never went in that direction
@Harvardbound2017 when the poem said “she left the dear man” or something, i thought it was implied that the woman felt the man was dear to her, so i thought that would be when she is affectionate towards the speaker. but she never directly addressed him so idk
Did anyone take the sunday test (today)? I was the only one at my testing center taking lit so I have nobody to talk to about the test (because it was different from the saturday test).
The girl didn’t show affection to the speaker. But it was an “except” question, so that was the right answer.
@merlion @curlypie99 i avtually considered option A for the except qn: both were called away from an amusing past time @senjiruven
