May SAT CR Thread

^ I dont remember nut trees, however I do remember clearing and trees.

is there anyway we could find this passage any ideas?

Yea I’d love to see the passage again lol.

If someone remembers even just a few words (connected) or like a phrase from the passage, then we can just put that in quotation marks and google… anyone?

Book is called “Chimpanzee Travels: On and Off the Road in Africa”
Here is a sample sentence: “The great accomplishment of Homo sapiens is not technology, which in any case has become bigger and scarier than we are, a mixed blessing…”

Another: “If our accomplishment is language, our great hope predates language in the timeline of ape evolution: the internal compass that may enable us to…”

However, I have yet to get access to the part I want: the part with the chimps striking nut trees.

does anyone remember a passage about the internet? it was a very short passage

Ah! Here is one: “many columns of nut trees - and soon about a dozen chimps were hammering away, using log hammers and log or root anvils…”

ok the answer is cracking nuts. that question now to come to think of it wasnt too vague. I simply didnt read carefully ok oh well a lesson learned for the June test.

Man, so we only have 14/19 sentence completions? Are the ones missing tough ones?

could it have been experimental? short passage about vastness of internet/conveying sense of control??

no, theres 15 completions so far. 14 is wrong. and people probably remembered the hardest ones because they gave them trouble.

does any1 remember the other choices to the cleanliness answer?

Does anyone remember a question in which they asked the best title for a certain passage? For some reason I remember a questions where it asked which of the following would be the best title for the following passage. Maybe Im just going crazy?

how do you think the June SAT CR will be? any predictions? what kind of curve too?

Was there an answer with the words “various accounts” in it? on the diamond passage

for the chimp one, a earlier part of the book reads “Paul told me that the chimpanzees carefully placed hammers on the anvils when they were finished cracking nuts”. So I guess it was teh nutcracking…

Not that big of a curve, maybe -2 800

^ Maybe an average curve? -2 800 an raw score 58 700?

Even that would be generous considering the rlly harsh March curve…

Why is the question with the butler going to the table eagerness?

I’ve looked at the story and it still looks like the answer is courtesy.

The butler wasn’t eager to write the story; he was doing it out of courtesy. If he was eager, he wouldn’t have sat for 2 hours wishing he didn’t agree to right the story.

Hopefuls, she(or was it a he?) was eager because the other guy entrusted her with what seemed an important job to her. Methinks.
