So before attending the CVW, the admissions office called me regarding my CFA. (I had failed it before, and I was scheduled to retake it) Does that indicate interest in me as a candidate or is it just standard procedure?

prbly trying to determine if it merits your attendance …in the event you failed it. definitely not sop.

How did you find out that you “failed” it before?

I’m not quite sure as to what you mean… it’s not standard procedure, i got that, but the rest of the response is just huh?

it turns out my proctor DIDN’T hand in my CFA results. I’m surprised. (That’s an understatement.)
If i hand it in tomorrow, is it too late to hope for a LOA?

^^^^

You aren’t getting an LOA with sub par academics. 88.5 does not merit an LOA (assuming you are not a recruited athlete). Frankly, you’ll be in tough competition to get an appointment, let alone an LOA. The fact that you failed the CFA, retook it and are on a varsity sport will probably cause the admissions board to question your participation in said varsity sport.

kokopuffs …in other words, they’re wondering if you’ve failed it again, in the event you’ve retaken, in which case they might conclude a CVW may not be merited at this time. Consider you’re being at the Yard, among other candidates and Mids without passing an essential piece of the puzzle.

Now, I specifically said it that way, that it may be a totally different issue in one of two other cases, i.e. you’re scheduled to retake (when, where, etc.?) or you have already done so and passed it but they’ve not received that info.

In other words, they want to know the status of a piece that at this point in time, to the knowledge of USNA admissions personnel, is cause for failure to become qualified for a potential appointment. Said another way, with no further change and/or significant improvements, a CVW would be both inappropriate and a waste of resources, theirs and yours.

Comprende?

i gotcha. that makes sense.
