MBA, a must have?

I'm currently an undergrad, majoring in information studies with a focus on social computing. I really would like to go into marketing in the health field or in fashion/the arts. (I know these two are drastically different, but my interests lie in both!)

I think my undergrad major would prepare me in terms of analyzing information and areas of eMarketing. But does anyone know if getting an MBA is an absolute must if I want to go in these two areas? (health or fashion/arts)

And if so, does the prestige of the business school matter?

Thanks so much!

Bump?..

I don’t think you’d have much of a problem getting into the health side with your major. Try to start as an info systems analyst (or something like that) within a health company and they will likely let you move into other areas as you progress. Your best opportunities may lie within health insurance companies for this.

The fashion field is another story. An MBA may be necessary, and while the prestige shouldn’t matter, the location will. You need to be in an area know for fashion (i.e. New York, LA, etc). Hope this helps!
