i was pretty much in the same position as you (also a tx resident). how does the rest of your app look like. if it’s pretty solid, in addition to the schools you already listed, i would apply to a good number of top tier schools that give full tuition merit scholarships. off the top of my head, mayo, northwestern, vanderbilt, michigan, chicago, penn, washu, case.

I am not sure whether I should pursue MD / PhD or not-
I would like to get opinions/ advice on research based programs / MD MS combined programs.

Not this cycle. I just started my junior year.
I am closely watching all of your posts & making notes about time line. I also learned few things about Texas colleges .

Most of my teachers are suggesting that I should look into MD / PhD- They think I will be a good candidate based upon my current & past projects , But I am still not sure .

Piggie, congrats, great score!
Don’t you know yourself if you are into research or clinicals? Would not you know better than others your own preferences?

Thank you for the all the encouraging words…
I participate in the basic science research as well as in a clinical study project. I love the analytic part of clinical project- the bio statistics, epidemiology parts . I self taught SPSS when I was in high school. .
That is why I am exploring MD MPH programs as well.

When multiple teachers encourage you to apply to something , you start to rethink about your plans. I am going to meet with couple of MD PhD students at my school to get fresh look at the program.
