I was wondering if it is a good idea to Major in marketing or management and still declare pre med? I am planning on opening my own practice eventually and I think a business background would be useful. Also, I am hearing more and more that non-science majors are doing well with acceptance into med school. Is McCombs a harder school to make a high GPA in considering it is probably the hardest school to get into at UT? Also, do you think I will have a harder time making a very high score on my MCAT? LAST QUESTION, will the business school push me so far into business that I will have a hard time staying focused on becoming a physician?? Sorry for SOO many questions but if anyone has any input on anything please reply!! Thanks!

no i have a friend that's doing pre-med at mccomb's and is staying focused while getting an awesome education in business.

do you think the business school is harder than the CNS as far as GPA goes? like say, marketing or management?

this is the GREATEST thing you can do okay?

Business + Pre-Med is excellent.

Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Business school courses are EASY. UT has a pretty tough chemistry and biology program, if you major in either of these subjects you'll have to work a lot harder to make a good GPA over all. Keep with this idea.

Best of all -- if you don't want to do pre-med or something goes wrong, you'll have the mccombs name to fall back on and good job prospects. If you major in Bio or Chem and you don't get into med school you'll be stuck -- they don't hire bio or chem majors usually for science jobs unless they've got masters degrees, etc.

GO MCCOMBS. (I know people who have went the CNS route and have regretted it.)

wow... im really glad you told me that... so do you only know of this info from what your friend said or what?

I know many friends who have chosen the pre-med + mccombs route, my sister is one of the people who foolishly majored in biology, and I attend UT Austin.

that's awesome! thanks alot.. im going up this weekend to visit and do the campus tour and all that.. everyone is telling me that once i go, i'll never want to leave! so what do you think i should major in at McCombs??
