McCombs school of business - UT Austin

I applied to UT Austin as international transfer student.
My GPA is 24/30 (our scale is on 30), so it may be like 3.2/3.3 on a scale of 4.
I wrote 2 very good essays (especially the statement of purpose).
My list of extracurricular activities is very long.
My diploma grade at high school is 80/100. (very good for our standards)

Do i have any chance to get into McCombs School of Business?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry to say it but I think you are out of luck on this one. McCombs has an average of 3.9gpa for transfer admits. Perhaps apply to a saftey program and cross your fingers hoping that those essays were what you needed.

What do you mean for safety program? do you mean I should apply to another major and then do the internal transfer?
Thanks for the honest answer though.

I mean another school that you know will take you. The internal transfer is hit or miss for McCombs.

Can you suggest me a school which admission requirements are appropriate to my profile please?

If you like the feel of Austin perhaps consider IU Bloomington. It is a bit easier to get into, has a solid finance department, and Bloomington is a great place to be. Southern Methodist University is also good for finance if you want to stay in Texas it may be a bit of a reach but still within your reach for sure. By the way if you look near the bottom of this website that is where the 3.9 gpa statement I made comes from just so you know I am not pulling numbers out of thin air. http://new .mccombs. utexas. edu/BBA/Prospective/Admission. aspx you will need to take out the spaces. Also remeber that there are a large number of programs that you are eligible for, I am not well versed in finance schools but I do know a few things about UT as I have gone through their admission process sucessfuly before. Best of luck to you.

Sorry you will need to look at the external transfer tab of that website I just posted.

i never doubted of what you previously said about average gpa at austin.
Many people spoke to me about IU Bloomington and it sounds interesting. I also noticed it’s one of the top business schools among both public and private ones.
I would like to ask you one last question: why is it a great place to be? great community?
Thanks for all the informations you provided me.

Bloomington is just an eclectic town. It is about 1/2 an hour from Indy and there are tons of things to do and possibly more important great places to eat. On top of that they have Upland Brewery there, which is a world class microbrewery, if you are into beer and a very nice campus. I live in Terre Haute which is about an hour away and go to Bloomington at least once a month.
