I was debating between studying marketing at McCombs or between studying public relations (and maybe advertising too) at the communication school. I feel like marketing would be the more practical degree, but when I visited McCombs, I got the feeling that it was sort of a cutthroat environment with very intense, serious students. I'm ambitious and like to do well in school, of course, but I don't take much very seriously and that kind of environment doesn't appeal to me. The communication school seemed much more relaxed and free-flowing, like the kind of place that would encourage creativity. I was just wondering if my thoughts were correct, or if you could give me any more insight into either school?

That all depends on whether or not you have been accepted to McComb’s or not.

If you have been accepted to McComb’s, leaving that school makes re-entry difficult.

Why not take courses from both and not let pre-judgement be your deciding factor? Hell, you may end up deciding you like science or something in the Liberal Arts.

Best of luck.

If you get accepted to McCombs, take it. It will be much easier to transfer from Business to Communication than from Communication to Business if things don’t work out for you.
