What are the chances of me getting into Mccombs if I am in the top 6% of my class. (maybe top 5, not sure yet)

I’m instate by the way.

I am sorry, but it will be pretty tough. Make sure to find something that gets you noticed, great scores, great resume, to give yourself the best chance possible. The first 75% of the acceptees come straight from rank. That usually caps around 2-3%.

You can always go to UT and transfer into McCombs after a year. You will need to really pull the grades your freshman year, but many do this.

It will be very hard. If your rank is the weakest part of your application, you may have shot. You’ll need some seriously good leadership positions and test scores to make up for that.

Go to a CC for a year and get a 4.0 while taking all 5 of the indicator courses. It is guaranteed to work; you don’t have to worry about ECs and/or Leadership since you are a transfer student and they don’t really care about that. Just make sure your essays are good.

Well my test scores are average, 33 ACT, 760 Math II, and I guess nothing really stands out in my EC’s except a few small things.

I would not recommend MagmicMan522’s idea about going to CC. If you are serious about getting in McCombs, then just come to UT and take your 4 indicator classes and have your overall GPA above 3.6 and you will be in McCombs. History shows us that a 3.6 GPA has been enough for internal transfer. I know many people who have done this. I am also trying to get into McCombs internally this year.

Is the cap really at 2-3%?
I know BHP admits have high class ranks, but regular mccombs??

You can call and ask.

Yes, the cap for reg McCoombs for the first 75% of the acceptees is that high. The other 25% of the acceptees come from everyone else. The average class rank for all acceptees is usually about 4-5%.

You can always transfer in. If UT is where you want to be, go for it. Just stay focused the first year. If your ACT and class rank are that strong, you should be able to get the 3.6 you need. There are some required courses before transferring in, both calcs, both econs, so make sure you take those. There may be others, so check the site.
