Hey I’d really appreciate if anyone could give me feedback on how I’m looking in McGill Admissions.
I’m a US HS Student from Long Island in New York, and McGill is my #1 school! My HS Class has around 450 kids and is an excellent public school. Too bad McGill doesn’t consider extracurriculars though… I have so many… I’d be applying to the Faculty of Science for Earth and Planetary Sciences: I know that program is about averagely selective and much easier than something like the life sciences faculty.
AP’s:
AP Physics, Environmental, Biology, US History, World History /// AP Chem, Calc AB, & Psychology are the 3 I’m taking now in senior year.
I take French if that helps because Montreal is French.
SAT:
640 CR / 670 M / 750 W : Overall 2060
Subjects:
Bio: 690 Math 1: 720 Physics: 670 US History: 630
I never took the ACT
GPA on 4.0 scale: 3.69 unweighted not counting senior year. Senior Year I am killing it though with my highest GPA of all time- on a 4.0 scale it’s a 3.875 so far.
A couple of other things: I know McGill has about a 45-48% acceptance rate and they put a lot of focus on senior year. Also, an admissions lady told my mom that they just take whoever’s qualified first when they’re admitting students depending on when they applied. I don’t know how true that is or if my mom misunderstood, but I had my application in by early October and the deadline was yesterday (Jan 15th) if any of this makes any difference.
That would leave one to wonder whether 20 points on CR would still fall within year-to-year fluctuations… knowing that the best 2 SAT subject tests would depict a better picture than the non-STEM one.
