What school is McGill comparable to in the United States in terms of rigor and prestige? I realize this question is up for interpretation, but I'd like to hear some of your guys' perspective. Thanks.

I would put McGill as comparable to UCLA and Michigan.

I would put it in the same group with the better, research oriented state flagships in the US

In terms of selectivity for admission, it would be probably somewhere in the 30s for the USNews National ranking.

Somewhere in between UMichigan and Cornell.

The opinion varies greatly in major university rankings:

According to QS World Rankings, McGill is in the same league as UC Berkeley, Cornell and University of Chicago.

ARWU rankings places McGill 67th in the world, slightly beow Carnegie Mellon and Rutgers and slightly above Brown and Boston University.

Times rankings places McGill 39th in the world, 1 spot below NYU and slightly above UC Davis and University of Washington at St. Louis.
