Both strong schools, in unique cities, strongly influenced by French/Acadian culture. Thoughts on academics, social life , reputation.....of each.

Weather would seem to be the biggest difference; they're at the two extremes of the scale.
As far as the schools go, I would say they are not that similar (I am actually applying to both as well, though). One (McGill) is a massive public research university in Canada. One is a smallish liberal arts college in the United States.

Actually you might find this thread I started of help - it's comparing McGill and Fordham, which is actually somewhat of a similar comparison.

Depends on the program you are applying to..Science/Medicine - McGill is a well known university for these programs
- Essentially, McGill has a highly respected name around the world and I would not say that Tulane is a very well known school world-wide -- depends on the way you look at it

Isn't Tulane one of the most, if not the most expensive schools in America? They keep harassing me with VIP app. but im not even considering it b/c of the cost. McGill on the other hand is relatively cheap for its prestige.

LFC8: False. While Tulane is quite expensive (~50K a year), it is not the most/one of the most expensive schools in the nation. There are plenty of schools that cost 55k, thus 50k is not uncommon for prestigious private schools in the states. I think the most expensive school is George Washington University.. I could be wrong as I haven't checked recently.

Additionally, Tulane gives A LOT of generous merit scholarships, especially to early applicants.

Of course, McGill is significantly cheaper (even taking into account Tulane's scholarships), but for American applicants, airfare to Montreal can be expensive...

Bottom line: You're saving money at McGill, but if you're a strong applicant Tulane is going to give you a serious discount, making them much more comparable.

Sinclair, definitely PM me if you have questions about this because I would feel a bit silly sort of repeating what I know others have said on this forum so if you have specific questions you want to ask me i can definiteely answer
