I have applied to McGill from an American high school with a GPA of 3.90 and an SAT of 2020 with an ACT of 31. I have taken extra courses at my local university to the tune of 64 credits with a 4.0 GPA.

Extracurricular activities include Ski Team for 4 years, soccer for 4 years, as well as playing trumpet in a jazz band.

That’s cutting it close SAT wise. Their minimums are 620 Cr, 560 M or 600 for engineering or architecture, and 610 wr. However, that’s just the cutoff. Moreover you would need to provide at least two SAT II’s. My suggestion is to just provide your ACT score, which is enough. Their ACT cutoff is 26, so 31 should be good.

I think you have a very good chance of getting accepted. I’m from Canada so I know the type of students who apply their. The average mark for accepted students is around 91-92%. Not quite sure how it is for Americans though, but I can definitely say that you have a legitimate shot.

Did you also apply to U of T and UBC? Those two are also very good schools. U of T and UBC are around top 20 universities in N.A

I really think you will get in!! I knew someone with less impressive stats who currently goes there. I know this doesn’t encompass everyone they accept, but I believe that these stats will blow them away. Maybe being an American could even give you an advantage. Best of luck!!

I have two questions: with 64 undergraduate credits earned while in high school, is the OP considered a freshman applicant or a transfer applicant?

Regardless of the answer to the first question, what faculties did the OP apply to? Actual standards vary from a faculty to another, and the actual application will allow 2 faculties at most.
