I got accepted to the Desautels faculty of management but I don't know if I should do 3 or 4 years. I already know what I want to major in so I could skip the first year and only do 3, but I feel like I'd be missing something. What do you think is best?

You do not choose a 3 or 4 year program, you do not have the option of skipping first year. It depends on your educational background. All Quebec CEGEP students do a 3 year program. For others it is normally a four year program but that can vary depending on what AP/IB credits you may have, if any.

I’m in the IB curriculuum so I have the option of skipping it if I want to. It’s pretty nice but it’s making my decision harder

The thing you would be missing is residence, which is a great way to meet other freshmen and enjoy some Montreal during U0 before jumping into the serious career-building stuff.

Having said that, Desautels students don’t have real commerce classes until second year, so the people you meet would be just as ‘fresh’ as you if you enter U1.

I guess it really depends on what your plans are for the future.

I would personally just do my 4 years for the experience and getting used to the change since I’m an international student, but if fewer years of university fits your plans then go for it. You would be saving a considerable amount of money, for example.

I would also like to mention that you have a lifetime ahead for working, but only a couple to be an undergrad student =D Nevertheless, it’s still linked to your personal goals.
