McGill economics?

Hello, just wondering about the reputation of Mcgill's economics department (particularly the graduate programs). I know the school is very reputable overall, right up there with U of T, but it appears that in some economics department rankings that Mcgill economics is quite a distance down on the list when compared to other Canadian universities.

Is economics not a major focus of the school?

Would I do better to attend a school like the University of Montreal, which seems to be rated far higher for economics, but is overall not as prestigious a school? Also considering UBC or McMaster, which are are similar to U of Montreal with respect to excellence in the field of economics. Help please!

first of all...University de Montreal is a French university....lol.......

for grad i think U of T economics is definitely stronger considering its publication, professors, research and students...

Yeah I know it's a French uni. I'm bilingual so that works for me. Obviously U of T has the top economics department in Canada, but I'm also looking at backup schools. Since U of T has around 25 spots available each year and several hundred applicants for the program, I thought it might be a good idea...

Any other opinions on graduate economics programs?
