Can anyone comment on the ability of an international student (US) to be placed in internships in Canada while studying at McGill?

Thanks!

Full time students can work in Canada 20 hours/week while in class and 40 hours per week during the summer…

Of course there is paperwork involved. The International Student Services office will assist.

I am a little worried. I’ve been on “ready for review” for quite some time now and still no response. McGill is my top choice and I’m worried that they won’t get back to me before the May 1st deadline :(. Should I call them?

Hi I’m an international student. I applied to McGill faculty of arts, science, arts & sciences combined. They asked me for my midyear exam result, which I submitted on March 10th. When could I be expecting a result? Thanks

Nobody knows. I submitted my grades and information almost 2 months ago and have heard nothing while some get in a few days after submitting :/.

Thank you so much!

Is there a date by which dual citizens need to submit proof of Canadian citizenship in order to receive Canadian tuition rate? Will we be notified when we need to submit this proof of citizenship?

I am not sure if there is a date for sure but would do this as soon as you have made your final decision. Our daughter did it in April after she accepted offer and was sure this is where she wanted to be!
Once you do, and they have received and reviewed, your status will update in Minerva. The same if you become “Quebec resident”, your status changes in Minerva.
Have you find out anything about AP?

HI My D’s application for can cit card has been sent but they are delayed. McGill will change adjust tuition for Fall 21 if received by Dec 1 and Winter 22 if received by Apr 1.

Child finally wrote to ask about pending status on Major Renewable Scholarship. Was told this year the cut off was 4.0 GPA and the way they calculate GPA from a 100% scale is to convert every individual semester grade and re-average. So if, for example, you got one 93 one semester in a high-level STEM AP at one of the toughest schools in the US, you can never regain at 4.0 and are out of luck. Maybe this is just Arts & Sciences? I certainly know of kids in the past who had much lower GPAs who got money but they were Comp Sci. My sense is McGill knew the result a while back, they just never communicated it.

When did you apply???

January '21 and right now they have no record of it. I am considering resending it with a letter from McGill to expedite. Might be worth it to make the 12/1 deadline for fall tuition.

We sent ours July 2020 and. Nothing back yet

Did they confirm receipt?

It’s interesting that no one is mentioning a rejection. I know my classmate didn’t get in, so I would expect others to have received a negative notification by now.

Agreed, but have head the rolling admissions starts with strongest candidates first. This process is very different from US schools.

Not sure how true this is though. People with lower stats have gotten in months before me and I am still waiting so it doesn’t make sense to me.

Good point. My D just got asked for her predicted IB scores and she has been marked Ready for Review for more than a month. Is that your status on Minerva?

I was ready for review from November to late Jan and was asked to submit mid year grades then so I submitted them feb 4 and have been further review required ever since
